The StarField Optics ED102 f/7 APO doublet telescope uses extra low dispersion FPL53 glass, along with a Lanthanum element, to produce color-free images with beautiful contrast and sharpness rivaling a much more expensive triplet system. It also cools down more quickly than a triplet, which allows you to make the best use of your time under the stars. The doublet optics of the StarField ED102 are fully multi-coated and housed in a precision CNC machined, fully adjustable temperature compensated cell.
The internally baffled optical tube assembly is matte powder coated white with a hard anodized finish that will retain its beauty for years to come. At one end, the OTA sports a retractable dew shield, which shortens the tube assembly to about 26". The back end of the OTA includes a 2.5" dual speed rack and pinion focuser that is fully rotatable (360-degrees) and sports a 2" axial lock.
Accessories include a self-centering 2" adapter, heavy-duty cradle rings with M6 threaded holes spaced 30 mm apart and a Vixen-style dovetail.
This decked out 4" ED doublet can serve beautifully as a visual telescope for day or night with the addition of a diagonal, finder and a few eyepieces. In addition, the StarField ED102 can do some serious imaging, especially if you add the optional 0.8X reducer that will take the focal ratio down from f/7 to f/5.6.
