This Kit from Sky-Watcher combines an 80 mm Achromatic Refractor (OTA) with their well-known AZ-GTe Alt-Az Tracking Mount and Tripod. (The AZ-GTe Mount is described below.) The Sky-Watcher StarTravel Series Refractor telescope (OTA) has an achromatic doublet objective with an aperture of 80 mm (3.15") with a focal ratio of f/4.9, for a focal length of 400 mm.

This is the AZ-GTe Alt-Az Tracking Mount and Tripod from Sky-Watcher. The Sky-Watcher AZ-GTe, while easily portable at just 8.6 pounds, is able to take payloads weighing up to 11 pounds, making it an excellent grab-and-go mount for many diverse astronomy applications. This Sky-Watcher AZ-GTe Alt-Az Mount is also a Computer controlled GoTo type mount system with all the necessary electronics. This mount contains coordinate information for 42,900+ celestial objects in its database.

It uses DC Stepper motors to track the objects in Altitude and Azimuth mode. This mount has four tracking rates: Sidereal (stellar) rate, Solar, Lunar (Moon rate), and Alignment-Free Solar rate. This AZ-GTe Alt-Az Tracking Mount from Sky-Watcher also has 9 slewing speeds: 1x, 2x, 8x, 16x, for precise adjustments, as well as 32z, 200x, 400x, 600x, and 800x for rapid slewing. It runs on a power source of 7.5 V DC to 14 V DC at about 0.75 Amp. (Needs an external source of 12 V DC nominal or 7.5 V DC to 14 V DC).

The mount system also includes GPS for determination of your time and position on Earth, and includes an integrated WiFi hardware/software. The mount does not include a hand controller box. But it is designed and built to interface with your existing smartphone! You only need to download the free SynScan Pro application for your smartphone, either for iOS or for Android systems. Then use that software app on your phone to control the mount via the WiFi connectivity control system provided by this mount.

This Sky-Watcher AZ-GTe Alt-Az Tracking Mount uses a Vixen style dovetail saddle for mounting your own scope. This mount only weighs 8.6 lb but has a payload capacity of 11 lb. It includes an adjustable aluminum tripod with 1.25" aluminum legs and an accessory tray and a tripod extension. The tripod adjusts from 31.6" to 59.8" height. Includes a Sky-Watcher 2-year Limited Warranty.
