Pentax 100 mm ED Straight Through Spotting Scope - 70940

This beautiful Pentax 100 mm Spotting Scope is waterproof and nitrogen-gas purged to prevent fogging in wet or damp conditions.  The extra-low dispersion (ED) optics offer up clear, sharp true color images that are exceptionally bright, even in low light conditions.  This spotting scope does not come with an eyepiece, but there are several Pentax 1.25" eyepieces that work wonderfully well!  A chart below displays, for instance, what magnification, field of view, etc. a variety of XW eyepieces can produce when paired with the PF-100ED.

The Pentax PF-100ED objective lens features an extra-large effective aperture of 100mm to produce a super-bright image field for effortless subject spotting and high-precision focusing.

The objective lens incorporates ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements to deliver a sharp, high-resolution image with minimal chromatic aberrations.

The maneuverable straight-line barrel makes it fast and easy to spot and follow the subject from a distance.

The Pentax 100 mm ED Spotting Scope is made of heavy-duty magnesium alloy to reduce weight and protect inner mechanisms, while its protective rubber housing further enhances shock resistance and durability.  A sight line on top of the lens barrel, a built-in lens hood, and a tripod receptacle with click-stop rotation are just a few of the highlights of this well made, well thought out premium spotting scope!

A dust-shielding glass element in its eyepiece receptacle  assures JIS Class 6 waterproof construction, so it can be used in the rain with no worries.  On top of that, the body is filled with nitrogen gas to prevent internal fogging caused by sudden temperature changes, providing a clear vision under any condition.

The Pentax PF-100ED does not come standard with an eyepiece so that you can choose the magnification and field of view you prefer.  Pentax offers several eyepieces that are compatible with this spotting scope.  All have long eye relief to ensure comfortable viewing for eyeglass wearers.  See the second chart below for a list of Pentax XW eyepieces that work well with the PF-100ED.
