Lunt Solar 2" White Light Herschel Solar Wedge For LS130
This product provides you with a Lunt Solar brand Herschel Wedge to view or image the Sun in white light. A Herschel Wedge attenuates the brightness of the Sun in white light and also directs almost all of the IR energy (heat) to the outside of the metal housing, where it is dissipated into the air by convection.
View or image the Sun in white light with a Lunt Solar Wedge! This diagonal-type solar filter inserts into the focuser of your nighttime telescope for safe viewing of eclipses, sun spots, and more. For solar white light imaging and white light visual observing, the Lunt White Light Wedge comes with a built in ND3 filter. Notably, this allows perfectly safe imaging or visual observing of the Sun. Alternatively, if you wish to do visual observing we recommend dimming the image for your eyes with a Polarizing Filter. First put one Polarizing Filter on the bottom of your eyepiece. Then adjust the brightness to your comfort by rotating the eyepiece to obtain a comfortable view level.
This product also includes the necessary Back plate and Focuser assembly for the LS130, so you can attach this to the scope. This product is the 2″ model. The 2″ model is best for refractors 6″ and under. Not recommended to be used on large reflectors or SCT type telescopes, as these will capture too much IR heat energy and may cause damage to the internals of the scope and/or to the wedge. The addition of a polarizing filter (sold separately) is recommended when using the solar wedge visually.
NOTE: The images provided do not show the Backplate and the Focuser assemblies, but these are provided for the LS130.
