NOTE: This OTA does NOT include a Blocking Filter or a Focuser. The User will need to use a Lunt Blocking Filter for safety and for proper operation, and will need a focuser assembly to focus.

This is a Lunt Solar Systems 152 mm Ha Solar Telescope OTA. It has an internal type Single Interference HD Etalon Filter for the Hydrogen Alpha (Ha) emission band to view/image details on our Sun.

The Lunt LS152THa is one of the largest solar telescope available, and is sure to provide the most stunning balance of resolution and performance to astronomers wishing to study the Sun. The 100% unobstructed system will perform to the highest level at both low and high magnifications. Utilizing both advanced high-contrast coatings, and the Doppler True Pressure Tuning system, the user will be able to experience crisp, sharp, high magnification visual images, as well as utilize this system for high-end digital imaging processes. This Lunt Solar 152 mm Ha Solar Telescope w/ Internal Etalon Telescope OTA is equipped with Lunt's True Doppler Tuning. This is a solar Ha band tuning technique using air pressure changes within the chamber containing the Internal Etalon Ha Filter.

True Doppler Tuning allows for a Doppler shift into and away from the user which adds a 3D-like component to the viewing experience. While it has minimal effect on prominences due to their location at the edge of the disk, it does have an effect on filaments and active regions on the surface facing us, not at the edge.

While looking at a filament at the center of the Sun, the user has the ability to Doppler shift from the base of the filament to the tip, following the filament through it’s structure toward you and away from you, allowing for enhanced visual and imaging capability for the observer as well as a research tool for the avid hobbyist. The pressure tuning system provides an order of magnitude more precision to the tuning of these desired Ha image features than is possible with a tilting etalon filter system.

This system can be used with an optional, interchangeable, purchased CaK filter Module allowing for the research of multiple wave lengths thru the same platform. You can also convert the LS152THa for nighttime viewing by purchasing a special Backing Plate & Focuser kit.
