Introducing the iOptron HEM27EC, a revolutionary hybrid harmonic drive equatorial GoTo mount that includes an upgraded high precision RA axis encoder for incredible tracking accuracy with Real Time RPEC. Â
All versions of the iOptron HEM27 harmonic mount are light weight, high payload tiny titans that will deliver an astronomy experience like never before. Imagine a mount head weighing in at just 8.15 lb. but with a payload capability 29.74 lb., and without the need for a cumbersome counterweight or counterweight shaft!
Utilizing state of the art harmonic drive technology for the RA movement in tandem with backlash-free DEC worm/belt drive design, the iOptron HEM27EC delivers unparalleled weight to payload efficiency. Its black anodized all-metal CNC machined body is not only appealing to the eye, itâs a rugged platform that will perform at the highest level for many years to come. Unique features such as an electronic friction break and power down memory allow the mount to safely stop and resume a GoTo slew or continue tracking even after an abrupt power loss (no need to realign and start from the beginning).
The HEM27EC package features a high precision RA axis encoder that delivers incredible tracking accuracy, enough that many will choose to image âsansâ guiding and comes with iPolar, an electronic polar scope for easy and accurate polar alignment.  Other optional HEM27 models include the base version (H272) or the base version with iPolar (H272A).  Only the HEM27EC (H274A) comes with the high precision RA encoder.
