The Starlight Innovation PLI Para-Light I Wood Parallelogram Alt-Az Mount is the perfect parallelogram type mounting for astronomers, bird watchers, nature observers, and a variety of other outdoor optical applications. This PL1 Para-Light I Parallelogram AZ Mount from Starlight Innovation allows observers to enjoy long periods of use with cameras, telescopes, spotting scopes, and also high-magnification astronomical binoculars. Now you can enjoy the views without experiencing fatigue from holding or adjusting the position of heavy optical instruments.

The clever parallelogram design of the Starlight Innovation PLI Para-Light I Wood Parallelogram Alt-Az Mount allows movement along four axes for precise positioning and tracking of objects of interest. It is very useful if you're standing or sitting, while using a counterbalance weight system for smooth movement and reduced vibration. The Starlight Innovation counterbalance system allows for precise balancing of a variety of optics depending upon your application. With the included 5-pound counterweight installed, the mount has an 8-pound payload capacity. If you add a second (optional) weight, the payload increases to 16 pounds. A third (optional) weight will increase the payload to 24 lb.

A 1/4"-20 threaded socket on its base allows it to attach to most photo/video tripods, "field tripods", or telescope tripods. Its 2-piece design enables smooth, frictionless 360° rotation in the Azimuth plane. The hinged parallelogram design lets you move your optical equipment up or down through a wide 24" range of motion while keeping your equipment flat and parallel to the ground. A hinge on the optical mount lets you swing it forward and back, and a single adjustment thumbscrew provides upward and downward rotation of the optical equipment's mounting surface. The parallelogram system is made of Baltic Birch plywood and Canadian Ash wood, which provides natural vibration suppression and also rigidity, both of which are important when using high magnification optical instruments.

This PL1 Para-Light I Parallelogram AZ Mount from Starlight Innovation weighs only about 7 lb without its counterweight and 12.0 lb (5.4 kg) with its included counterweight, (plus the weight of any additional counterweights used.)
