The Sky-Watcher New EQ8-R high capacity equatorial mount provides an observatory class mount which will benefit you and all every day astrophotographers. With its 110 pound payload capacity and high-end imaging features, this mount offers the capacity to hold some of the largest telescope systems you might wish to use.

This model is the EQ8-R Equatorial Mount Head only, with included counterweights; SKU S30612. Note: The Pier Tripod is NOT included with this model. This Head only model is designed for those who wish to install this mount in an observatory which already has a permanent pier in place! Experience their High Payload capacity. All-metal precision internal construction makes this mount strong and stable. The EQ8-R is a perfect mount for supporting even the largest OTAs Sky-Watcher offers.

Building on the legacy of Sky-Watcher’s popular EQ8 mount, the new EQ8-R introduces upgrades and enhancements that make observatory-class astrophotography easier than ever and within your budget. Whisper -quiet dual belt drives greatly reduce Periodic Error while providing enhanced tracking and guiding with very low inherent noise output. The cleverly designed cable management system eliminates cable drag and makes remote set-up of your equipment ultimately convenient. Both the RA and Dec motor assemblies drive the mount using ultra-smooth belt drives. This reduces the amount of gearing needed which reduces backlash in the system and periodic error overall.

Like other Sky-Watcher mounts the EQ8-R series features a built-in SNAP port. This allows you to plug in your DSLR or mirrorless camera of choice and control the shutter through the hand controller. The camera will require the appropriate (optional) cable to make this connection. Sky-Watcher offers these cables. A built-in USB-3.0 port is situated on the mount to allow a direct connection to your computer, no hand controller needed! Plug it in, power on the Sky-Watcher SynScan Pro app for Windows and take control of your mount with your computer (PC).

Improved Motor Placement: Developed from the original EQ8, the EQ8-R series features improved motor positioning. This aids in balance of the mount, eliminating uneven side balance issues which were inherent in the previous design.

The EQ8-R series Polar Scope and bracket is available separately as an optional purchase. Also, additional counterweights are available as an option. Note: Images show Pier Tripod, but this is NOT included.
