  • A Telrad Finderscope lets you see the sky the way star charts show it
  • Not a small upside-down - magnified portion of it, but the real sky with three lighted target rings set against it
  • The large ring is 4° across. It outlines the area covered by a finder scope. The small ring is 0.5° across and outlines the area seen in the telescope
  • Select an object on the chart and note its position among the visible stars; Set the Telrad rings on that spot in the sky
  • Telrad is easy to use
  • Base attaches easily to telescope with adhesive strips
  • Works on two "AA" batteries - easy to replace

To see objects through a telescope it must be pointed to exactly the right spot. The Telrad Original Reflex Finderscope is a sight for pointing telescopes to that right spot. The Telrad Finderscope is a Reflex type sight which allows you to look at the sky without any magnification but it projects three lighted target rings set against the sky and they appear to be at infinity, like the stars.

Through a Telrad Finderscope you see the sky the way star charts show it. (Not a small upside-down and magnified portion of it, but the real sky). You also see three lighted target rings set against the sky which appear to be at infinity. The large ring is 4° across. It outlines the area covered by a finder scope. The small ring is 0.5° across and outlines the area seen in the telescope. Select an object on the chart and note its position among the visible stars. Then set the Telrad rings on that spot in the sky. A quick rough setting will put the object in the field of view of a finder scope, if you have a regular finder scope on your telescope. With no finder, or a fainter object that you cannot see visually, use a more careful setting among the brighter stars in the field, to put the object into the field of view of your telescope.

The lever on the right side of the Telrad body is used to turn the reticle illumination on or off, and also adjusts the intensity of the rings you see on the sky. The three adjustment knobs on the rear of the Telrad body are used to adjust the position of the projected rings on the sky to align with the line of sight of your telescope. The body of the Telrad Original Reflex Finderscope does not have to move.

The Telrad Finderscope is 8 inches long, weighs a mere 11 ounces and mounts on almost any telescope or spotting scope without drilling holes. Its included base attaches with adhesive strips, included. It unlocks quickly from its base for separate storage. Makes the locating of faint objects easier. Batteries not included.
