Designed for today's astro imager, Photron™ truss tube R-C telescopes deliver a sharp clear image edge to edge over the entire optical field. The truss tube models are designed to continue iOptron's long standing reputation for creating and manufacturing solid, stable, accurate tracking mounts, now incorporated into a high quality Ritchey-Cretien (R-C) astrograph telescope.

iOptron® Photron™ truss tube R-C telescopes feature low thermal expansion quartz primary and secondary mirrors with highly reflective dielectric coatings, to maximize the light getting to your eyepiece or imagine device. The R-C optical design delivers coma free, spherical and chromatic aberration free results, perfect for either color or monochrome imaging. A fixed position primary mirror eliminates image shift that occurs when focusing with other telescope designs. Incorporating a 1/12th wave or better primary mirror this iOptron Photron 16" Truss Tube R-C Telescope delvers images and visual viewing that are truly out of this world!

Each Photron truss tube instrument comes equipped with a dual-speed linear bearing Crayford focuser that can facilitate using their optional ASCOM compliant electronic focus control. Three focuser extension rings are provided for a “flex-free” solid extension as a means to take up any unneeded back focus. Its backbone, made up of strong, light, carbon fiber truss supports holds the optics firmly in place while keeping weight to a minimum. Its open air design results in rapid cooling, reducing the "wait time" before you can use this scope for imaging.
