About the DWARFLAB Draco Smart Telescope...
Draco is DWARFLAB's latest high-end smart telescope - a fully integrated imaging system that brings observatory-grade deep-sky capability to a portable, travel-ready body. A 90 mm telephoto aperture, 300-second single-frame exposures, dual cameras, and a 5.5 kg body you can carry with one hand.
Orders placed in September 2026 are expected to ship within approximately two months of the order date. Final delivery dates are subject to confirmation from DWARFLAB.
A 90 mm aperture that sees more
The deeper the sky, the more aperture matters. As aperture increases, the diffraction-limited angular resolution gets smaller, revealing finer deep-sky detail. Faint structures, fine textures and subtle layers hidden in the dark - Draco's 90 mm telephoto optics gather the light needed to reveal what smaller systems can miss.
One telescope. Two stories from that night.
Draco captures the universe at two scales, simultaneously.
- 1/1.55" wide-angle camera: 23.3 mm equivalent focal length, D 85.74 deg / H 73.20 deg / V 58.23 deg ultra-wide field of view - made for the Milky Way, star trails and sweeping nightscapes.
- 1/1.3" telephoto camera: 1200 mm equivalent focal length, 50 MP resolution, 2x2 pixel binning.
For deep sky, 2x2 binning combines four adjacent 1.2 um native pixels into one 2.4 um effective pixel, producing roughly 12 MP images with a better signal-to-noise ratio on faint targets. For the Sun, Moon and planets, Draco switches to native 1x1 readout and intelligently crops around the target for finer detail on lunar craters, sunspots, Saturn's rings and Jupiter's Great Red Spot.
300-second single-frame exposures, rock steady
- Built-in guide scope continuously monitors star drift and corrects tracking errors in real time.
- Field rotation correction - the CMOS rotates with the sky to physically counter field rotation, with no complex polar alignment.
- Precision track system with high-precision transmission and fine microstepping control reduces vibration and backlash.
A more advanced filter system
Draco's dual cameras feature multiple built-in filters for deep-sky imaging, the Milky Way, star trails, the Sun and Moon, and everyday photography.
- Astronomy filter: preserves a broader range of useful starlight, suited to galaxies and star clusters.
- Upgraded H-alpha + O III dual-narrowband: H-alpha at 658 nm and O III at 503 nm, both narrowed to a 13 +/- 3 nm bandpass.
SHO or Standard - choose your Draco
Both editions share the same H-alpha + O III dual-narrowband filter and Astronomy filter.
- Standard Edition: built-in ND filter, switched into place with one tap in the app for remote solar imaging.
- SHO Edition: adds a built-in S II + O III dual-narrowband filter (S II 674 nm, O III 503 nm, 13 +/- 3 nm bandpass). The two narrowband filters work automatically in sequence to capture real S II, H-alpha and O III data, and Draco handles separation, colour mapping and composition automatically for classic blue-and-gold Hubble Palette images with one tap. Includes an external magnetic ND filter for solar imaging.
Steady support in Equatorial Mode
Draco's all-metal base fits securely into its metal frame, forming a rigid, unified structure that stays stable in Equatorial Mode. No additional equatorial mount is required - follow the in-app guidance to set the correct angle for greater stability during long exposures and multi-frame stacking.
The included aluminium-alloy tripod weighs approximately 480 g, stands 175 mm deployed with a 470 mm footprint, and folds to just 80 x 80 x 268 mm. An 80 mm top platform with a 3/8"-16 thread provides a secure connection.
DWARFLAB App
- NFC connection - tap your phone and the app connects instantly.
- Wide-angle Sky Finder - AR alignment shows what is visible and where obstructions are.
- Real-time star atlas with Today's Recommendations and custom Favorites.
- One-tap GoTo - autofocus, calibration, target acquisition, tracking and stacking all handled automatically.
- Auto or Pro mode - exposures from 1/10000 s to 300 s, with full control over exposure, gain and filters.
- Automatic calibration - built-in flat and bias data, with dark frames captured in real time.
- Stellar Studio - auto enhancement, star correction, noise reduction, star reduction and removal, star spikes, and Hubble Palette effect.
- Export in JPG, PNG, FITS and TIFF for your own post-processing workflow.
Advanced imaging
- PhotonLink remote control - deploy Draco under better skies and control it from anywhere, including remote filter and dark-frame cover switching.
- USB Ethernet connectivity for stable long-term remote deployment. Ethernet ready, USB 3.0.
- Schedule shooting - set target, time and parameters, and Draco wakes, finds, tracks and captures on its own.
- Astro Mosaic - extend the frame up to 1.8x in width and height, roughly 3x the field of view overall.
- Multi-night mega stacking - restack data across sessions to extend effective exposure and improve detail.
- Star Party - shoot the same target with others and combine data with CoStack or CoMosaic.
