Askar 160 mm f/7 Triplet APO Refractor - 160APO

The Askar APO160 is a large aperture (160 mm, or 6.29") f/7 triplet APO refractor with one ED element to boost contrast and sharpness even further!  A quality large aperture refractor can reach a limiting magnitude of 12.79, an ability that pulls in fainter objects than an instrument of lesser aperture.  For instance, a 160 mm telescope has 30% more aperture area than a 140 mm, and that really makes a difference in detail discernment and imaging times!

The Askar 160 APO employs multiple lens elements (one of which is made of extra-low dispersion, or ED, glass) to correct chromatic aberration while allowing for better color accuracy and sharpness.  

Even though this is a big refractor, it is still reasonably portable, weighing in at 11.4kg without the handle, tube ring or dovetail, and 13.6kg when all of those accessories are in place.

The rear of the OTA (just before the focuser assembly) sports a integrated retractable design that features a rudder-type locking ring to make it easy to loosen or tighten the rear lens.  

The 3.5" rack & pinion dual speed focuser it beautifully designed, and is compatible with most electric focusers, such as the EAF.

On the focuser side of the locking ring you will find two finder bases.  This allows you to add a variety of accessories with a dovetail base.  As for the focuser itself, it has a high-precision scale printed plainly on the barrel, and has 100 mm of focus travel.  Next comes the 360º rotator to set the prefect rotation angle.  The rotator is also fitted with an easy to reach locking screw.

The focuser interface comes with a 2"/1.25" adapter so you can use either size diagonal or other accessories.  This telescope is also binoviewer friendly because of the retractable style of the OTA.
