About the Celestron CPC 800 GPS (XLT) Computerized Telescope...

The CPC 800 GPS XLT is the most portable of Celestron''s top-of-the-line fork-mounted astronomical telescopes and includes Celestron''s premium StarBright XLT coatings. This Celestron Telescope is at home as a superb visual instrument or, with optional wedge and Celestron CCD Cameras, as a serious astrophotographer''s tool. Turn the Celestron CPC 800 GPS (XLT) Computerized Telescope towards planets and see amazing detail on the surface of Jupiter; Cassini''s Division in the rings of Saturn, and resolve details on the surface of Mars. Even the distant Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are within your reach. Hundreds of deep space objects are also visible.

Ā

Although large in aperture, with its conveniently located carrying handles and an instrument weight of only 42 lb., the Celestron CPC 800 GPS (XLT) Computerized Telescope is portable enough to set up in your backyard or take with you to your favorite dark sky location. The Celestron CPC telescopes, like their acclaimed Advanced Series and premium CGE Series Celestron Telescope, feature meticulously matched and hand-figured optical systems. In addition, all CPC models are diffraction limited and come standard with StarBright XLT High Performance Optical Coatings. With the introduction of the CPC Series, Celestron has "gone back to the drawing board" and re-designed, re-engineered, and re-invented a Celestron Telescope family that provides superior quality, unsurpassed ease of use, and incomparable value.

Ā

The Celestron CPC 800 GPS (XLT) Computerized Telescope use an internal GPS receiver that automatically downloads the date and time from orbiting satellites and pinpoints its exact location on Earth. This eliminates the need for you to manually enter the date, time, longitude, and latitude. Once the internal GPS has established the Celestron CPC''s position, aligning the telescope is as easy as 1-2-3! Simply use the Celestron Telescope CPC hand control to manually point (slew) the telescope to three bright celestial objects. You do not need to know the names of the stars you may even pick the moon or bright planets! Celestron''s NexStar software technology will model the night sky to determine the position of every star, planet and celestial object above the horizon. Once your Celestron CPC Telescope is aligned, the remote hand control allows direct access to each of the celestial catalogs in its user-friendly database.

Ā

The Celestron CPC 800 GPS (XLT) Computerized Telescope database contains over 40,000 celestial objects including Messier objects and the Caldwell Catalog, as well as NGC Galaxies, nebulae and planets. User-definable filter limits make navigating through this expansive database quicker and easier. Filter Limits let you filter out objects that are outside of your local horizon (ie, if trees or mountains were in the way). The Identify feature tells you what you''re looking at with your Celestron CPC, but it can also be a very fun way to tour around the sky. Just point the Celestron Telescope up somewhere and ask it to identify Messier objects (for instance) and it will show you the 5 nearest Messier objects to your position and let you GOTO them. You can keep doing this for different parts of the sky or for different object types - it is a lot of fun. There is also a "Solar Sys Align" feature that lets you align your CPC Celestron Telescope on the sun or moon for daytime observing -- it is easy to use this feature to see planets or bright stars in the day.

Ā

Don''t forget... Additional Celestron Telescope Eyepieces are also available - along with an extensive array of Celestron Telescope Accessories, too!

About the Celestron StarSense AutoAlign...

Ā

Before Celestron StarSense AutoAlign, using a computerized telescope required a lengthy alignment process of finding and centering at least two bright stars in the telescope''s eyepiece. But StarSense automatically aligns itself with no user input needed. With this one-of-a-kind accessory, you become an instant astronomer - even if you''ve never used a telescope before.

Ā

Celestron StarSense AutoAlign is not only compatible with all of Celestron''s current computerized telescope models, but backwards compatible with many older models as well. (See compatibility list below.)

Ā

The Celestron StarSense AutoAlign includes a small digital camera that attaches to the telescope''s optical tube, along with a specialized hand controller. Just set up the accessory, push the Align button on the hand controller, and StarSense starts capturing and comparing images of the night sky against its internal database of 40,000 celestial objects. In about three minutes, StarSense will gather enough information to triangulate its position and align itself. Then, press the Sky Tour button: StarSense will automatically slew to all the best stars, planets, galaxies, and more based on your exact time and location.

Ā

Even the most advanced telescope users will love using the affordable Celestron StarSense AutoAlign accessory. StarSense replaces expensive software used for advanced mount modeling, providing superior pointing accuracy from horizon to horizon. Add as many calibration stars as desired to give your telescope mount a new level of accuracy.

Ā

Here is what customers say:

Worth every penny!!!

"Once I figured out you have to remove the lens cap, this thing worked exactly as advertised. I Polaris is somewhere directly above downtown, though I have never actually seen it. While it was going through the alignment procedure, it locked onto 97 stars. There were high thin clouds and lots of sky glow, and I could barely see any stars.

A wonderful piece of gear! And it found the deep sky objects I was looking for without any fine tuning the first time I used it."

Ā

Need more to convince you about this exciting new technology?

Ā

Then check out this review done by our own Ray Khan...

Ā

"Well, it was certainly an exciting time at the annual Starfest Astronomy Convention held in Mount Forest, Ontario. There is nothing more exciting than seeing a campground full of astronomical telescopes; anywhere in size from about 2" to 36" in diameter. Khan Scope was also very pleased to officially show and launch the new Celestron Starsense Auto Align Accessory - the first one in Canada!Ā

I had connected the device to my Celestron Nexstar 8 SE telescope, and was quite excited about testing it out under the dark skies of River Place Park. Well, alas Friday night turned out to be cloudy, so I had to wait until Saturday night to test the device. Patience is something you learn in the hobby of astronomy....the more you want a clear sky to occur, the less likely it is to happen. I turned the Nexstar 8 on as soon as I could see a few stars in the sky, and entered the date and location on the Starsense unique hand control - a hand control which replaces your existing Celestron controller. The Starsense hand control is a higher resolution device and was easier to read, than my previous control, so that was definitely a bonus! The telescope then started slewing to the first of 3 stars that would be imaged and compared by the Starsense autoalign, and then went to a second and third star. The whole process took about three and half minutes.

And that was it.

The display read "Alignment Successful", and so I went to the hand control database, and selected the Solar System database, and entered the planet Saturn as the first "goto" object.....and VOILA the Nexstar 8 slewed to Saturn and the object was in the field of view of the eyepiece. Success! The Celestron Starsense Auto Align worked exactly as Celestron claimed it would and my friends and I were quite impressed. What''s more, if you have been on the fence as to whether or not to get one of these, then I suggest you get on board now, because for sure, demand is going to exceed supply!" --Ray Khan

Ā

And you don''t have to just take his word for it. Check out what our customers are saying...

Ā

" Hi, Ray! Just received my StarSense today, and I just tried it for the first time. You were absolutely right, a complete game-changer!!! It really made stargazing fun and not work, for the first time! Can''t thank you enough for letting me know about this amazing new device. It was totally worth the wait as well!" -- Richard Zuccato
