Hello valued astronomers,
I want to address the tariff situation directly since many of you have been asking questions. At Khan Scope, we believe in keeping you fully informed about matters affecting your equipment purchases.
Q: Bottom line - what does this mean for me?
Here are the key facts:
- If you're considering purchasing equipment, we recommend doing so before price increases take effect.
- We cannot predict exactly when manufacturers will implement price changes.
- Subscribe to our email updates for timely notifications about price adjustments.
- If you have items on pre-order or back order and prices change, you'll have the option to confirm or cancel.
- Some items may be temporarily unavailable for back ordering until pricing stabilizes.
Q: Will astronomy gear get more expensive?
In most cases, yes. The extent depends on the manufacturer. Many of our suppliers are based in countries affected by these tariffs. Some have already adjusted their pricing, while others have maintained current prices for now. Following the April 2nd tariff announcement, we anticipate that many of our suppliers will need to implement price increases.
Q: When exactly will prices increase?
We don't have specific dates. These decisions are made at the manufacturer level, often without advance notice to retailers. If you're interested in an item currently in stock, we recommend purchasing now to secure the current price. We'll send email notifications about price changes whenever manufacturers provide us with sufficient advance notice. Scroll down to the bottom of this page and subscribe to our email list to stay informed.
Q: What if I already have something on pre-order or backorder?
The policy is straightforward: Items in stock are price-protected at time of purchase. For pre-orders or backordered items, prices may change before fulfillment. If a price increases, we'll email you with the updated total. You'll have the option to either approve the new price or cancel your order. We won't process payment or ship your order until we receive your confirmation.
As fellow astronomy enthusiasts, we understand these tariff impacts are challenging for everyone in our community. We're committed to transparency and will continue working to minimize the effects on your astronomy pursuits.
