2" SHO 7nm Filter Set

This filter set includes the ZWO 7nm Ha, SII & OIII filters that are compatible with 2" filter wheels or filter drawers.  Here's more information on each of the filters, all of which come in their own plastic storage case.

OIII

The ZWO narrowband OIII 7nm filter is designed for nebula observation by allowing a 7nm bandwidth of light to be centered on a wavelength of 500nm (which corresponds to OIII emission lines), and blocking out all other light.  Adding the ZWO OIII Narrowband filter to your imaging collection will help you go beyond RGB imaging and will help capture your favorite nebulas in a new light, no matter how polluted your skies may be!

This ZWO OIII 7nm Filter is 36mm and unmounted and can be used in filter wheels that accept 36 mm filters.  It comes in a plastic storage box.

SII

The ZWO SII 7nm Narrowband Filter passes light at the 672nm wavelength with a bandpass of 7nm for nebula observation. It is suitable for visual observation on most emission nebulae, planetary nebulae and supernova remnants.  Use this SII (Sulfur II) with H-alpha and Oxygen III narrowband filters (SHO Set) for tricolor CCD astrophotography.

This ZWO SII 7nm Filter has a diameter of 36 mm and comes unmounted.  It can be used in 36 mm filter wheels that accept filters that are 2mm thick.

H-Alpha

The ZWO H-Alpha filter has a bandpass of 7nm and passes light at the 656nm wavelength, with a light transmission rate of up to 80%. This is the best choice for a narrowband H-alpha astrophotography filter if you are doing high-contrast imaging and want to reveal rich details of the nebula even in areas with strong light pollution.

This ZWO Ha 7nm Filter has a diameter of 36 mm and comes unmounted.  You can use it in 36 mm filter wheels.

Do not use this filter for viewing or photographing that Sun; eye and/or equipment damage could occur.

How to Use the ZWO SHO Filter Set...

  • A Hubble look can be made by the combination of H-alpha, OIII-CCD and SII-CCD, such as the famous “Pillars of Creation” (M16 Eagle Nebula)
  • Narrowband imaging with SHO set (H-alpha, OIII-CCD and SII-CCD) can be done with the moon in the sky so your equipment is not sitting dormant until the next new moon.
  • Use the H-alpha filter to blend a black-and-white Ha image into RGB data to enhance structural detail while maintaining natural look.
