Sky-Watcher Wave 150i Strainwave Mount
Â
Bringing Balance to the Force
The Sky-Watcher 150i Strainwave Mount is particularly suitable for serious astronomers and astrophotographers who require precise control over their telescopeâs movements while still enjoying a small form factor and a maximum weight capacity of 55 pounds (with optional counterweight kit).
Sky-Watcher Ìs Wave mounts feature strainwave gearing that provides a lot of power in a little package. The strainwave configuration offers several advantages over traditional mount designs including low to zero backlash and high torque for handling larger OTAs.
The 150i Wave weights only 12.8 pounds while still carrying a 33-pound payload (55lb. in EQ mode with the optional counterweight kit), so it is very portable! Â With cable management built into the saddle, a large payload capacity, and a small footprint, the Wave 150i is the ultimate portable imaging mount. The Sky-Watcher 150i also features a whisper-quiet slew speed of 10 degrees per second and can even track satellites and space stations.

Exclusive Features
Cable Management: Designed for the serious astro-imager, the Wave 150i mount features through-mount cabling and a powered hub built into the saddle with ports for autoguiding, Dec USB, and 2 Dec outputs. The RA hub sits at the back of the mount and never moves, keeping all your cabling neat, organized, and safe from snags.
OTA Balancing: Unique to the strain wave mounts currently on the market, Sky-Watcherâs larger Wave 150i also features the ability to balance the OTA on the RA and Dec axes adding to the overall stability, security, and performance of the system.
Fast Slewing: Track satellites and space stations with the Waveâs swift slew rate of 7.5 degrees per second and the downloadable Satellite Tracker Application for Windows PC found on Sky-Watcherâs International Support website.
Key Features
Strainwave Drive Technology: The Wave mount was built around advanced strain wave drive technology which delivers exceptionally smooth and precise tracking without the need of bulky counterweights, tripods, and mount heads. This approach allows users to capture stunning images of celestial objects on a more streamlined platform without sacrificing performance.
Robust Payload Capacity: Whether youâre mounting a small wide field refractor, a stocky Mak-Cassegrain, a massive astrograph, or a long, glass-heavy triplet, the Wave's adaptive payload capacity and slew of add-ons and accessories ensures compatibility with a wide range of optical tubes and tripods. This adaptability provides a stable platform for an entirely open ecosystem tailor-made by the user with an intuitive interface and a fit and finish that inspires confidence.
Seamless Connectivity: The Wave mount easily integrates with Sky-Watcher's SynScan hand controller or SynScan app allowing users to control their telescopes by hand or wirelessly via smartphone or tablet, as well as through third-party control platforms (ASIAir, Eagle, StellarMate, etc.) enabling access to advanced features like plate solving and automated imaging runs.
Options, Add Ons, and Accessories: Choose ĂĄ la carte-style to suit your needs be it the stainless-steel counterweight kit, pier adapter, carbon fiber or steel tripod, mount head only, or fully decked out kits with optical tubes included. The Wave has got you covered.
