About the GIOTTO 560...

The PrimaLuceLab GIOTTO 560 Smart Flat Field Generator is designed to help you capture flat calibration frames for telescopes with aperture up to 560mm.

The GIOTTO uses many LED lights at a color temperature similar to the Sun with a specially designed light diffuser. GIOTTO has integrated electronics that allow you adjust its light intensity by 100 steps (0 to 100%).  A USB-C port to let you connect to your EAGLE or any standard Windows computer for remote control with PLAY or an ASCOM driver.  WiFi connectivity allows you to wirelessly control the Flat Field Generator using your smartphone or tablet via the included Virtual HandPad and 12V power port!

Calibration is important in astrophotography because results are greatly improved by capturing special calibration frames called flat, dark and bias and using them during processing. In particular, flat frames are recorded by pointing your telescope at a white surface and it allows to mitigate effect of vignetting and shadows created by dust on the optical system. GIOTTO is the smart flat field generator that helps you capturing flat calibration frames for your astrophotography.

GIOTTO 560 flat field generator has a maximum illuminated diameter of 560mm: when you choose a flat field generator, we suggest you to choose a model with illuminated panel larger than telescope optics. Diameter of your telescope external tube should be lower than the flat field generator maximum illuminated diameter.

GIOTTO includes electronics for USB or wireless remote control

In the bottom part of GIOTTO you find the control panel with USB-C port to let you easily connect it to your EAGLE or standard Windows computer. It also comes with WiFi connectivity so you can wirelessly control it using your smartphone or tablet via the included Virtual HandPad! In order to power GIOTTO, you don't need a separate power unit, since it natively runs off of a 12V power source so it's easy to power together with your astrophotography telescope.

GIOTTO 560 is designed for telescopes with aperture up to 560mm

Using GIOTTO 560 is very simple: when you want to record your flat frames, you can simply set GIOTTO 560 in front of your telescope. This  version of GIOTTO is not provided with thumbscrews. Differently from the smaller GIOTTO models, central part of GIOTTO 560 is not illuminated since it's used to keep the light diffuser in position. This part is 150mm in diameter and it doesn't create any problem in reflector telescopes with secondary mirror larger than 150mm in diameter but please note that GIOTTO 560 can't be used with refractors since they have no obstruction.

GIOTTO is easy to use and it helps you in recording flat frames

You can control GIOTTO with PLAY astrophotography software that we designed not only to control PrimaLuceLab devices but also to let you do astrophotography in the easiest way. In fact PLAY comes also with a special wizard that allows you to easily record calibration files for your images. And if you want to use your preferred Windows astrophotography software, you can also control GIOTTO by using other softwares thanks to the dedicated ASCOM driver.

Use the Virtual HandPad to control GIOTTO even without a computer

You can even control GIOTTO without a computer by connecting your smartphone or tablet to GIOTTO WiFi network and by using the included Virtual HandPad. Here you can turn the light on and set brightness. You can also save your preferred settings and recall them very easily, for example by saving different values when you use different filters!

About the ALTO-3L...

The Primaluce Lab ALTO-3L is a telescope cover motor designed to let you use  on the GIOTTO 560 mm as a controlled motorized cap. Now you can remotely open and close your telescope allowing you to use GIOTTO to record flat calibration frames without having to be at your telescope.

ALTO provides a USB-C port to connect to your EAGLE or standard Windows computer that you choose to control it with our PLAY astrophotography software, or via a third party astronomy software using the ASCOM CoverCalibrator driver. You can also control ALTO by connecting to its WiFi network from your smartphone or tablet and use the included Virtual HandPad.

The provided USB and 12V power passthrough plugs (to directly connect GIOTTO to ALTO) and the included Cable Locking Clips (CLC) allows you to improve cables management and simplify your telescope setup. ALTO natively runs off of a 12V power source to avoid the need for external power units.

ALTO Provides USB-C Port & WiFi Connectivity

Alto integrated control electronics has a USB-C port on board to let you easily connect it to your EAGLE or standard Windows computer and control it with PLAY or third-party astrophotography software that supports ASCOM CoverCalibrator.  It also comes with WiFi connectivity so you can wirelessly control ALTO using your smartphone or tablet via the included Virtual HandPad!  In order to power ALTO, you don't need a separate power unit, since it natively runs off of a 12V power source so its easy to power together with your telescope and other accessories.

ALTO with passthrough ports to connect GIOTTO) and improve cable management

In order to connect ALTO & GIOTTO to your control computer, you do not have to connect USB & power cables to each device.  Instead, ALTO offers USB & 12V power passthrough plugs to improve cable management.  Connect short USB & power cables from GIOTTO directly to ALTO and then you will connect a USB & 12V power cable to your computer.  The computer will recognize GIOTTO and ALTO as separate devices in the device manager. This way, you will always be able to control them individually from your software.

ALTO-3L is Designed for the GIOTTO 550 mm

In the bottom part of ALTO-3L body you can find different M6 threaded holes that allow you to attach the ALTO to your telescope by adding a custom adapter (not included with ALTO-3L). Note: since GIOTTO with ALTO can't seal the telescope front opening, we do not suggest to use GIOTTO with ALTO to record dark calibration frames; we suggest you to record a dark library instead.

ALTO is Easy to Use with PLAY Software or ASCOM

You can control ALTO with PLAY astrophotography software that we designed not only to control PrimaLuceLab devices but also to let you do astrophotography in the easiest way. In fact PLAY comes also with a special wizard that allows you to easily calibrate the opening and closing position of ALTO and GIOTTO installed on your telescope. Then with a simple mouse click you will be able to remotely open or close your telescope. And if you want to use your preferred Windows astrophotography software, you can also control ALTO by using third party software that supports the ASCOM CoverCalibrator driver.

Use the Virtual HandPad to Control ALTO Even Without a Computer

You can also control ALTO without a computer by connecting your smartphone or tablet to ALTO's WiFi network, then access the controls via the built-in Virtual HandPad.  On the HandPad, you can open or close your telescope caps without the need for a computer, like using your smartphone as an additional handmade.  It will also allow you to save your preferred settings and recall them very easily.
