Stellarvue 100 mm F/5.8 Quad Astrograph - Feather Touch Focuser
The Stellarvue SVQ100-3FT is a unique, four-element telescope designed for full-frame imaging (Astrograph applications). It is made on a very short optical tube assembly, well within airline carry-on size limits so you can safely take it anywhere you go. Field is absolutely flat and color correction is virtually “reflector-like” thanks to an advanced optical system using Ohara FPL53 optical glass. The SVQ100-3FT is optimized for demanding imaging applications!
Stellarvue wanted this quad astrograph to be extremely stable to maintain alignment and easily hold the heaviest astro cameras. For this reason, it includes the over-sized 3” dual speed, Feather Touch rack and pinion focuser with high lifting capacity. The telescope comes with threaded camera adapters for both the 42 mm and 48 mm over-sized T-rings. They also have a number of larger, optional adapters available for direct, wide-aperture attachment to your camera if that is needed.
Using a visual adapter, the instrument can be used with a diagonal and eyepiece. Note: These items are optional but may be purchased separately. While the overall visual correction of any astrograph is not the same as a high Strehl ratio APO triplet telescope, the SVQ100-3FT will work as a flat field "richest field telescope" with excellent color correction. Thus, it would be recommended for "rich field" viewing use, as well as imaging, (but not for high magnification, narrow FOV applications).
This Astrograph from Stellarvue is a 100 mm aperture f/5.8 Quad made with Ohara FPL-53 glass. Includes a Feather Touch 3" focuser, dual hinged mounting rings, and threaded extension. The SVQ100-3FT from Stellarvue now comes with both 42 mm and 48 mm T-ring adapters. You can directly thread your T-ring-equipped camera directly to the focuser. These telescopes are assembled and triple-tested one at a time at the US manufacturing plant in Auburn, CA. Each scope is guaranteed to be of the highest optical quality by virtue of thorough testing. They may be advance-ordered, but may not necessarily be in stock. The sooner you order, the sooner you will receive yours. The SVQ100 comes in either a hard case or the Stellarvue C18 heavily padded travel case. The C18 case will hold the SVQ100 with its riser blocks and Losmandy style rail attached. It is also more durable than the hard case. Unless otherwise specified, the SVQ100 will now ship in the C18 case.
New colors! The SVQ100-3FT now comes in either the durable Stellarvue Instrument White powder coating or in red or blue anodization. These colors are applied here in the USA for greater durability. The dew shield is laser engraved. Unless otherwise specified, the SVQ100 will come in Instrument White. Specify at time of purchase to your dealer to obtain one in an (red or blue) anodized finish instead of white!
The included photographic adapters will accommodate a wide range of back focus that range from 150 mm to as little as 1 mm. The modular nature of this equipment enables the user to purchase additional M48 extension tubes if you have a shorter back focus on your camera. Adapters with other common thread sizes are available from Stellarvue depending on individual requirements. For example, both the 2.156-24 and 3-24 adapters are in stock that mate with the included M69 extension tubes. For more specific information on adapting it to your particular camera, call Stellarvue or your dealer, and they can let you know exactly what combination will work best with your particular camera. Remember, this is not a back focus issue that requires precise spacing, the SVQ100-3FT never needs a field flattener! Rather, this is a range in which your camera will focus. Adding or subtracting extension tubes will change where the image comes to focus. It is best to try and hit focus somewhere around the center of the focuser's draw tube travel range, although with the Feather Touch focuser that is less of an issue compared with "import" focusers.
