This is the early Japanese production, not the later Chinese-built Series 5000 replacement, and it is still sought after by observers who know the line.

At 8.8mm it is a medium-to-high power eyepiece: about 230x in an 8" f/10 SCT, or 136x in a 10" f/4.7 Dobsonian. Well suited to planets, the Moon, globular clusters and small planetary nebulae, with enough field to keep targets in view longer on an undriven mount. Fits any 2" focuser or diagonal directly, or any 1.25" focuser via the built-in nosepiece.

Specifications

Focal length: 8.8mm

Apparent field of view: 84°

Optical design: 8 elements, fully multi-coated

Barrel: dual 1.25" / 2"

Eyecup: fold-down rubber

Origin: Japan

Condition notes: Inspected by our technicians.
