Meade 6" LX65 Alt-Azimuth GoTo ACF Telescope
This Meade LX65 telescope package features a Meade 6" Advanced Coma Free optical tube assembly as well as the innovative LX65 alt-azimuth computerized mount.
The Meade 6" LX65 Alt-Azimuth GoTo Advanced Coma Free Telescope features an Advanced Coma Free-Catadioptric optical design for coma-free pinpoint star images and flatter image fields while reducing astigmatism and eliminates diffraction spikes. This makes it a great deep sky performer and ideal for detailed lunar and planetary observation as it easily provides high magnifications when needed. Features a 6" (152 mm) aperture, 1524 mm focal length, and f/10 focal ratio. Equipped with an internal single speed focuser and Ultra High Transmission Coatings (UHTC™) for brighter star clusters, more fine detail in nebulae, and greater surface features on planets. Includes (1) 26 mm, 1.26" Super Plossl eyepiece and a red-dot viewfinder along with a vixen-style dovetail. The OTA alone weighs 9.14 lb and has dimensions of 8.5" x 16.5".
Meade gives you premium optics. The heart of any telescope is its optics. Meade delivers the highest quality professional grade optics available. These optical tubes feature large apertures coupled with Meade's Ultra-High Transmission Coatings (UHTC™), giving you the ultimate in premium optics. The Meade 6" LX65 Advanced Coma Free (ACF) optical tube assembly is an ideal high-resolution visual observing instrument but is also fully qualified for the more advanced areas of astronomy, including planetary astrophotography. Observe Saturn's rings, the surface of the Moon, and even the cloud bands on Jupiter in great detail.
About the Meade LX65 Alt-Az GoTo Mount
The Meade LX65 GoTo Mount is easy to set up and portable enough to take wherever you go. The portability factor is due, in part, to the single fork arm design of the LX65, however, this fork arm is no wimp! It can hold your main OTA as well as a scope up to seven (7) pounds on the included secondary saddle plate. The high-tech electronics of the LX65 include GPS and a GoTo hand controller called the Meade AudioStar.
With a 30,000 object database and a built-in speaker, the Meade AudioStar will take you to an astounding number of celestial objects with the push of a few buttons AND tell you about them once you've arrived! The AudioStar also has a special built-in tour that will show you the best objects for any night you are observing (Tonight's Best), and it also allows you to add to the database if you want to remember the location of an interloper into our solar system, such as a comet or asteroid. The AudioStar is also used for alignment and controls the speed at which your telescope slews, or moves, across the sky.
The LX65 series telescopes have what it takes to align to your location and date in no time. When prompted by the AudioStar, just enter your site information, find level and North, and Easy Align picks two alignment stars for you and places them right in your viewfinder. Center them to fine-tune your alignment, and viola, the wonders of the Universe are at your fingertips!
The LX65 telescope is powered by eight (8) user-supplied C-cell batteries for cord-free observing. As an option, you can a purchase an external 12V power supply and cable. The mount sits on an adjustable metal tripod. The steel tripod legs are locked into place by a tripod spreader bar which gives you extra stability.
