This is an Explore Scientific FirstLight 6" Maksutov-Cassegrain (Mak) Telescope on an EXOS-2 Equatorial Mount with GoTo Control. This Maksutov design telescope has an aperture of 152 mm (6") and an f/number of f/12.5, for a focal length of 1900 mm. It is a white colored tube Mak-Cass scope with a primary mirror of 152 mm aperture. Maksutov-Cassegrain telescopes are noted for their higher f/numbers, and high contrast, sharp images. They are often favored by amateur astronomers who plan to do a lot of planetary and lunar observing, (i.e. well-resolved objects) because of their larger images at their focal plane and their high contrast performance. It comes with a 25 mm Plossl eyepiece, a Red Dot Finder, and a Smartphone Adapter. Includes an EXOS-2 Equatorial Mount with GoTo Control. This 6" Maksutov-Cassegrain telescope on a GoTo EXOS-2 Equatorial Mount is a scope package you will definitely appreciate for doing serious astronomical observing and astroimaging.
This Maksutov-Cassegrain Telescope is a good scope for those who might be just getting started in the astronomy hobby as well as for more seasoned astronomers who want a good portable telescope. It has an aperture which is large enough to collect light well and provide the views of some of the better deep sky objects, nebulae, galaxies, as well as the planets, and the Moon. It includes a smartphone adapter to help you use your smart device to capture and share images. This OTA weighs only 17 pounds.
The Explore Scientific EXOS-2 GOTO Computerized German Equatorial mount is equipped with motors on both axes, allowing the mount to track astronomical objects accurately. The precision gears allow operation with a minimum of backlash using all nine slewing speeds. A simple 1, 2, or 3 star alignment is necessary to orient the scope for tracking and finding objects. The convenient hand controller has GoTo function controls with its on-board 272,994 object database, making this affordable mount accurate and reliable. The mount has a solid 1" stainless steel tube tripod with excellent stability and strength. The included 12 Volt battery pack can be conveniently attached to the eyepiece tray and requires 8 “D” size batteries. Includes a 9.9 lb counterweight to balance the German Equatorial mount.
Includes a Limited One year Warranty from Explore Scientific, after your registration.
