The knurled edge of the ADM Accessories Celestron CGEM Upgrade - Replacement Plug for Polar Shaft was removed since it proved to be sharp to the touch. The designer at ADM increased the shoulder, rounded the corners and added a rubber "O" ring so the plug seats perfectly in the cast aluminum housing.
