Astrozap Full Aperture Glass Solar Filters - 41 mm - 105 mm
These Astrozap Full Aperture Glass Solar Filters are safe, full aperture (sometimes referred as clear aperture) solar filters with a glass substrate. This means that it transmits the most light possible into the telescope because it allows the full aperture of your telescope to be viewed. Perhaps more important, since these glass solar filters let your telescope use its full objective aperture, your scope is able to provide its maximum MTF (or highest image quality and sharpness), since its f/number is not being artificially increased. Your scope is working to its maximum image-forming potential.
This group of Astrozap Full Aperture Glass Solar Filters covers the range of optical tube sizes from 41 mm to 105 mm. Choose the correct size filter for your telescope from the drop-down menu.
The full aperture allows the best possible daytime viewing of the Sun when there is minimal atmospheric turbulence. If turbulence is present a mask could be put over the end of the filter to effectively reduce the aperture. (Keep in mind that reducing the aperture of your scope increases its f/number, thereby lowering its MTF value.)
This premium solar filter has an aluminum cell that is secured and centered to the tube end of the telescope with nylon thumb screws and felt padding. The clear aperture is made with high quality hand selected and inspected reflective coated glass. This is the highest quality, durable, glass full aperture solar filter on the market. The Sun is viewed in a natural yellowish-orange image.
The filter can be used for direct viewing of the Sun through the telescope or for photography. The filter box is foam-lined for protection and shock absorption during transportation/handling. It is durable enough to store the filter safely while not in use.
