About the Takahashi MC Abbe Eyepieces
Takahashi's MC Abbe eyepieces follow the classic Abbe orthoscopic design: a cemented triplet field lens paired with a single eye lens. The result is a very flat, distortion-free field, excellent colour correction and high contrast, with almost no ghosting. A favourite with planetary, lunar and double-star observers.
The 44-degree apparent field is modest by modern standards, but the trade-off is outstanding sharpness and light transmission on axis. All glass surfaces are fully multi-coated. Works well with the Takahashi 2x Barlow, and performs well even in faster refractors.
