The Sky-Watcher AZ-EQ6i is the ultimate multi-role, dual-functionality mount, blending the popularity of an EQ mount with the convenience of an AZ mount. With it's heavy duty, 44 pound payload capacity the AZ-EQ6i can handle a large variety of optical systems for both imaging and visual applications. In EQ mode the mount can be used for long exposure, deep sky imaging while in AZ mode it can be used for visual with one or even two telescopes on the mount, with the addition of the secondary mounting saddle (included with the mount). This mount has a full GoTo computerized control ability via the included WiFi adapter, the free SynScan app, and your smartphone or tablet.

To provide the best pointing, slewing, and tracking performance, the AZ-EQ6i features ultra quiet stepper motors and belt drives on both the RA and Dec. axes. Belt drives reduce the amount of gears used in the drive system which in turn reduces backlash. This allows the Sky-Watcher AZ-EQ 6 Mount to track and guide with amazing precision. For astronomers wanting the ultimate visual, tracking mount the AZ-EQ6i features Sky-Watcher's Freedom Find encoder system. These encoders are separate from the mount's GoTo system and allow you to disengage the clutches and manually move the mount around the sky without a loss of your initial alignment.

The AZ-EQ6i has the ability to mount 2 separate optical systems. These may be attached on each side of the RA axis. By mounting the included secondary mounting saddle to the end of the counter weight bar, the AZ-EQ6 can be used in dual mode. This is perfect for using two different telescopes such as a wide and a narrow field of view telescopes. Two optical tubes is also great for solar applications when using two different filters for safe observation of the sun. This mode also is excellent for use by astronomy educators doing outreach and/or educational programs, whether in schools or at star parties.

Sky-Watcher includes an illuminated polar finderscope to aid the polar alignment process. The finderscope features a circular grid reticle for the northern hemisphere, consistent with todays popular polar alignment apps. For astronomers in the southern hemisphere, the constellation Octans is built into the reticle as well. Even without a clear view of Polaris, the mount can be polar aligned using our SynScan hand controller.

The AZ-EQ6i Mount from Sky-Watcher USA does not include a hand controller (available optionally) but instead uses your smartphone or tablet, the included Wi-Fi Adapter and access to the FREE Skywatcher SynScan app to explore over 42,000 objects in the night sky at the touch of a button. Choose where you want to go and the wifi enabled telescope will automatically slew to your chosen location. For the astrophotographers looking to reduce Periodic Error, the SynScan App allows for PEC training that can be configured while being in use! This Sky-Watcher AZ-EQ 6i Mount is a great choice for any astronomer, whether an experienced amateur, a college professor, a school teacher, an avid backyard astronomer, or even a person relatively new to this wonderful hobby.

Please Note:  The only difference between this AZ-EQ6i mount model and the AZ-EQ6 (S30330), is the way in which you control mount.  This model (S30335) does NOT come with a hand controller (and is therefore less expensive).  Instead, you use your own smartphone or tablet loaded with the SynScan app (Apple and Android, free) to align your telescope and guide it across the night sky to a huge choice of celestial objects.  If you like, you can always add a hand controller later on, but we think you will like the graphics and interactive features that the app provides.
