Looking for the perfect beginner telescope?
In
a market filled with tempting telescopes, very few fill the bill as an
outstanding beginner telescope. While a computer assisted telescope is a
fine thing, it doesn't teach you how to read star charts or use an
equatorial mount. And, while a small compact telescope might be right
for some, in astronomy, size does matter. Enter the Meade 114EQ-ASTR Equatorial Reflector.
With enough aperture to provide very satisfactory views of all the
objects in the Messier catalog and a substantial portion of the NGC
list, the Meade 114EQ-ASTR Equatorial Reflector
also performs well on planetary objects, the Moon and - with a proper
filter - the Sun, too! It has a focal length of 1000mm, and focal ratio
of f/8.8. Features include a 1.25" rack-and-pinion focuser, equatorial
mount with slow motion controls, setting circles, latitude control with
scale, two 1.25" eyepieces (MA9mm, MA25mm), easy to use red dot
viewfinder, height adjustable full size steel leg tripod with accessory
tray, and instructional DVD with astronomical software/star map. Very
affordable and ready to go - right out of the box. This "keeper"
telescope is well-suited to the advanced young astronomer and the adult
looking for countless evenings of fascinating stargazing!
